WHAT AN EXCITING WEEK!!!!!! Rehearsals were amazing, and the excitement and enthusiasm were palpable.  Actors were split into 2 groups, and they learned the first OPENING ACT.  Mr. Drake could even hear the amazing singing going on in the library from his office.  I took pictures and videos.

This week, all actors received their scripts.  Please make sure they bring their scripts every week.  If they are lost or damaged, please visit the website, and you can print a replacement.

A few industry tips from a retired actress:)))))

If you have dialogue, highlight all your dialogue and place tabs on the pages where your dialogue is located. Parents, please keep in mind!!!!!!!!!!! Rehearsals are specifically for teaching dances, practicing songs, and learning placement for the entire show. It’s crucial to support your kiddo and “run lines” with them at least once a week. Running lines means – you say the line before your kiddos (leading them into it), and they deliver their line next. At this time, they should hold their script with them every time they rehearse (do not set it down yet). In a few weeks, directors will send the message to the kiddos when they need to be “OFF BOOK.” That means they are no longer allowed to use their scripts and should be fully memorized. Please do not just check in and say, “How’s it going?” It’s very important for you to “run the lines” with them, so you get an idea of where they are in the memorization process. The skill of memorization is building up the muscle; it’s muscle memory that needs to be done daily. If your child struggles to memorize, another tip it to have them write their lines down, multiple times.  This uses a different part of the brain and is very helpful.

MEMORIZATION of ALL- is done at home.  Actors must practice DAILY (ideally putting in an hour a day)- all dances, songs, and dialogue.  Please refer to the website for all dances and songs.  All actors should have the Opening dance and song memorized by next week (OH THE THINGS YOU CAN THINK).

Next week, all actors will receive their cast t-shirts.  Congrats to Gia, who was our Artwork winner.  Actors should wear their t-shirts every Wednesday.  We will also be taking program pictures during and after lunch on Wednesday.
